Hopefully this is the right place for this topic, but has anyone here actually seen/been haunted by a ghost?

I have had a fair few experiences. I apologise if anyone finds this disturbing but:

When I was younger, living on the south coast of England in an old victorian house (still had the service bells in every room). One night I was alone in my room asleep when I was awoken by a strange knocking sound. The knocks were followed by a deep heavy breath, in and out, then another knock. This went on for a while. I was terrified. Still not sure what that was to this day!

When I was even younger, I was at my grandparents house with my two brothers. We were small enough to share a bed. I was woken up by the sound of something heavy but padded, stomping up the staircase. I realised I was on my own, my brothers had gone but I was awake for sure. Whatever was coming up the stairs was nearing the top.
To my horror, this "thing" stopped outside my room and decided to come in. It was big and terrifying. It moved closer to my bed and around to the side, I hid under the covers. I heard it lay down on the floor and I could hear it breathing. It stayed there all night. As soon as it came to morning I ran for my grandparents room. When I got there I found both my brothers. They had seen something too that night and decided to leave me in the room on my own...

That is freaky, and shame of them for leaving you like that much less your grandparents not checking in on you.

My grandparents were super religious, they wouldn't believe me anyway...

Then I would think that make them check in on you all the more. After all, they pray to keep the evil spirits away.

Yeah, I would think any grown up that you were in the care of would check on you after your brothers left you in the room all by yourself. If you don't think they would believe you, then why didn't they make your brothers go back to the room with you so that you'd at least not be by yourself?

For myself I have never seen anything, though my nephew was over once and claim to see a shadow in the corner which I didn't see anything. Nothing ever happened before so it was most likely his imagination.

I don't believe in ghosts, and as such, have never seen "real" evidence to lend credence to their existence.

Could always change that by visiting a place that is supposedly haunted Razz

I've been to Gettysburg a number of times, supposedly a haunted Civil War battleground and didn't see anything. Being a skeptic, I don't think I'm "open" enough to see them, even if they were really there...

to be fair, any and all battle fields would be haunted, those who didn't die, those who did die, surely they all would have lingering grudges.
